Sukkot - The Festival of Booths
Sukkot commemorates the wanderings of the children of Israel in the wilderness, where they were compelled to dwell in booths.
Celebrated in the Jewish month of Tishri.
The day after the
seventh day of Sukkot is the holiday Shemini Atzeret. In Israel, Shemini Atzeret
is also the holiday of Simchat Torah. In the Diaspora (outside of Israel) the
second day of Shemini Atzeret is Simchat Torah.
