LESSON 4: INTERNET SEARCH ACTIVITY

This activity will help students find information they will use later when writing a summary.

  1. Get into a Search Engine (such as AltaVista, Infoseek, Excite, HotBot) and do a search on "self-respect".

    2. How many sites did the Search Engine Find?

  2. Go through the sites listed under the Search Results and choose 3 sites that seem closely connected to "teenagers and self - respect".

  3. Choose the site that you consider most interesting.

    4. Open a new WORD file.

    Write a summary of an interesting article you find in the site.

  4. Print out your worksheet.

  5. When finished, each student puts his summary on a table in the middle of the room.

  6. Each student takes one of the summaries, reads it, writes comments on it and returns it to the table.

  7. Each student takes his worksheet, goes over the comments and corrects his summary.

  8. Each student prints out an edited version of his summary and hands it in to the teacher.

  9. Homework: Prepare a short oral speech based on your summary.
